LABELLING THINGS! - Read this!!!

Ok, We have to start keeping things a bit more organized. after doing the Leica the way we did it got way to complicated...so for now on we have a labelling system. If you're confused on how to rename anything, ask me FIRSt before just guessing, keeping it consistent it is very important.

For each department you should be labelling things like this:
Department_Scene_Shot_Intials_VersionNumber

Storyboards:

Layout:

Model Building Meeting Idea

So an Idea I had to help with model building. is when all the designs are done (This Tuesday) I was thinking I could print them all out and us Builders could all have a meeting in how we will break them all down. so that were all one the same page for it. Plus to help out if there any questions or help wanted.

Hopefully all the builders have downloaded the Candy Bayou model I posted a while ago to study and play with. It will be similar with the Tucker model we just animated with. But our models will be a lot more well built and have a few tricks here and there to make animating Quicker.

I'm not sure when Barney will teach us how to build professional models. But I studied the Candy Bayou one With Sam/Steph/Rafa last year. and with playing around with models of my own. I have a strong idea on how to start them.

Not to mention we all already built models in Toonboom, so there are some similarity.

So lets keep staying ahead. We are all ready kicking some hard ass on this movie. Lets kick that ass into a mush of some disgusting pudding that will than be used to make sound effects for our film with my pro mic in HB's living area!!!!

Winter Break Ideal Schedule

Good morning sexy brother
I know we just finished a monster semester with too many late nights. But if we can get some stuff done over the break then all the better for fourth semester.

As for the writing team we need to go in and trim out a little more of the script, just to speed it along when it slumps in the middle, among other things you guys think are unnecessary.

(If the script can get trimmed out between the start of break and new years it would be good, you guys can all skype or just talk amongst yourselves)

For Layout we have plenty of location designs to do:
-Mexican Village from a far
-His house as a child
-Wrestling Arena
-City streets
-Desert at night
-Flamingo Pit (This is where a lot of the montage takes place, so read the script on the google docs
to take into consideration what might need to be in the flamingo pit and around the pit)

(Layouts would be best to get done by New Years, and anybody who does one or all of them can post them online and the Director, Charles D. Jones can take a look)

Storyboard can do thumbnails, so we can revise and clean them when we get back.

(The Boards can get done anytime over the break, as long as there's a take on all the scenes by the time we get back to the grind...you guys can also set up a skype date that works for your schedules)

As for Character design, we can start finalizing some designs, and start thinking of background characters...people in audience, the young boy at the end, etc. (anybody in Char. design can start working on these incidental characters). This way we can character build in the first few weeks when we get back for fourth semester.

(This is another thing we can do during the break anytime, cause we already have enough for the board artists to get to work on the generalities of the characters)

Storyboard Scenes

Ok, so we've gone through the script and broke up which parts can be storyboarded separately, so you can ask either Aaron, Charles or Devin for which scenes you'd like to work on and thumbnail out.

But make sure you know what the axis of the main characters are, so you guys can work together to figure out the fundamentals.

Scenes:

- Opening house scene into the eye

-Camera out of eye, first fight to him running away

-Runs through the lonely desert til he falls down

-Flamingo Spirit first meeting until El Crumbo starts training

-Training montage until Flamingo Spirit fades away

-Flamingo landing, into El Flamino and El Aguila challenge

- Moon to sun establishing shot,  second fight to losing

-El Flamingo in empty wrestling arena and the child

Let there Be Boards! (Storyboarder's READ)

Here is a edited page of boards to work thumbnailes out on. And certain scenes should be solidified and chosen by Charles. Devin. Aaron. So u can start boarding THIS WEEK WOAH!
(These will be scenes we believe are strong enough to stay even via the first draft of the script but still may get cut. so Don't put huge amount of time into the drawings)

P.S Chris if u could scan your Spider-man thumbnails to put up as examples. Thank you

Production Schedule

Here's the ideal production schedule for El Flamingo. If we can get even more done all the better, but

(DISCLAIMER- All ideas are accepted, but may not make it to the final draft. This is to get those sweet gems that keep it all fun from start to end said)

But I digress

From now till Winter Break, we will have two giant 1 hour sessions a week, which are

Tuesday 4:15 - 5:15

If you have any problems with these time slot please talk to El Director (Charles D. Jones) or  Production Manager (Aaron Lecours)

WE GONNA MAKE THIS BABY ONE OF THOSE BABY WHERE YOU'RE LIKE AWWW SHIT NOW THATS A KICK ASS BABY!

into the mind of el flamingo!

so here is the character write up I used for acting class, maybe it will help the writers get into the mindset of El?

I hadnt looked back that fateful day. I left all I loved. If I could re-do it all though, I wouldnt, because the night I died inside made way for my rebirth. My name? I don’t have one. The people of this town however call me El Flamingo.

As a young boy I had always been interested in the art of masked fighting. In my country it is called “la baila de los idiotas” It was a huge honour to have been chosen to perform in front of the crowd of six whole people, they were so proud of me. I had always admired the skill that my heroes had, however there was one particular fighter who I had always aspired to be. His name was El Terror. Like a fool, trying to impress my family, I challenged him! That would be when my championship title would ripped away from me. El Terror was the most ferocious six year old I have ever fought against.

There is no greater dishonour than being unmasked in front of the vast crowd of fans! I remember the sweat dripping down my rippling pecs. I was a laughing stock! I had been a fool to have a dream! I would never amount to anything. With that sudden realization, I took my uniform and I ran. I ran until I found solitude, and then I ran until I found sanctuary. There they were, fluorescent and inviting. Their beautiful feathers shimmering in the sunlight. I knew that what I had run from was not home because I had found it here, in the town called “zoo”.

To those with a untrained eye, they would have seen a man at the young age of forty six frolicking in a group of frightened flamingos. But to the skilled observer, they would see a family. Of course it took me a while for the group of feathered companions to accept me, but once i started to learn their ways, they began to treat me as an equal. I have never filter fed so happily in my life. After a while, I felt a great sadness in my heart, I knew that something was missing, but I didnt know what that was until I saw her. Violeta, always lovingly bringing food to all that lived here.

Unfortunately the place I had chosen to live was riddled with crime and injustice.Who would stand up for the citizens? I remember looking around and finally realizing that the place i called sanctuary was actually a prison. To the left were hyenas, who did not laugh, trapped in barred cages, and to the right were elephants, unable to remember the freedom they once had. This place, it was almost like a zoo! It even had zoo keepers! I had to set these animals free. I knew I was meant for bigger and greater things. I would be “El Flamingo” A hero! I gazed upon a fallen brother, and took his body and made a costume, so that he would forever be with me. I knew it was exactly what he would have wanted. I was a vision in pink. If I couldnt be the most glorious wrestler back home, I would be the most glorious hero here!

Unfortunately, the life of a hero is a lonely one. I could never be with my beloved Violeta, for if she found out my identity she would be in constant danger! I had to love her from a far. As I stood one legged in the sun with my brothers I recalled a memory: Like my great uncle Benaldo used to say, “with great power comes great torture.” I may not have had her by my side, but I still had a destiny. I unleashed all of the animals!

And they all died.

But they died free!

My mission was accomplished.

It took a shameful tragedy to morph me into the man I would become. One day this mask will be taken off, but by my own hand. I have shaped my future, and I have moved on from my past. sometimes on a quiet night,I can hear my name spoken in the wind. for I have become not a man, not a flamingo, but a legend. *cue flamenco guitar*
